Square Enix has confirmed that Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time will be released for Wii and Nintendo DS in 2009.
In Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time, players will go on an adventure on Wii or Nintendo DS, through the Pollux Engine, which allows players to link up and adventure together in multiplayer mode regardless of which version of the game (Wii or Nintendo DS) they are playing. While DS players will use the stylus to play, the Wii players will use the Remote. Also, players will be able to connect via Wi-Fi and play with four players. They can also play using Wireless Connection or with one Wii hosting the other three DS players. Communication will be possible through pre-selected phrases or registering their own, and there will be over 300 items and clothes combinations that they will be able to trade with friends using the Wi-Fi Connection function.
The adventure follows the story of a 16-year old boy who returns home triumphant after slaying monsters in the forest but the hero's joy is short-lived as a young village girl named Charlotta is found to be afflicted by a mysterious illness known as crystal sickness. Determined to obtain the cure, the hero steps out of the secluded village for the first time, only to discover a world in which crystals are merely artifacts of the past and no longer exist...
FFCC: Echoes of time will be released on January 29, 2009 in Japan and in Spring 2009 in North America.
