A few weeks ago (When I was trying to kill my boredom again), I encounterd a youtube video posted by TobyGames, which was called Amnesia: the dark descent. After watching 9 to 10 minutes of commentary of the game, my inner sanity was almost killed by it.


The game was F*CKING SCARY, even if I wasn't the one who played it! Unlike usual horror games, where you just need to prepare to kill zombies that can come out of nowhere, you were playing as an unarmed helpless man that can do nothing but run from the monsters that appear in the game. The atmosphere, the sound effects and the visual effects are enough to make you switch pants more than once.

Have anyone here played it or have never heard of it til now? Either way, are you scared as I am or worse?

Ah yes, Amnesia The Dark Descent... one of the best survival horror of all time on PC in my opinion.

I played it, finished it.... but it's almost impossible to do it at night with only the game as soundtrack.... except if you wish to have nightmares for the rest of your life, of course.

Everything is perfect, the impression of fear it gives is much different than something as a Silent Hill. However, it as one downside, and it's actually into his good points.

The impression of fear of the character is perfectly done, but instead of letting the player build its own paranoia, by the sound and visual effects it as it tells you "Here, at this point, you have to be scared as hell." It depends on how much you pay attention to it, if you're a player who likes to follow the game's rhythm, it's for you. If you prefer to make your own world, it may be a major let down.

But one in another, if you love survival horrors, rush on it, it's worth your time.

I'm amazed that you played it. I've only seen and heard about others playing it. A friend of mine played it last week, and she got the reaction I expected. If anyone here is ever going to play the game, these things I need to note:

1. Play it during day time

2. Have positive music in the background

3. Play it with someone (In case if you need to hug or kill something)

4. Have food (Unless if you easily lose your appetite)

5. Pause and read something funny once in a while

6. Laugh away your fears, it helps

I've known this game for a month now, and I only had one nightmare. But it had a positive ending, so I was okay after it.

seen the trailer for it and it looks interesting i may look up more info on it to see if it would worth buying

It's a really great game. Play in the dark w/ headphones

It's pretty awesome, and fun to play... It's my favorite horror game ever... As well as it beats any movies I've watched (on horror). But nothing beats the Marblehornets series on Youtube.

It's not that scary.
Play the Penumbra serie, it's by the same creators but made before amnesia.

I've seen it, it's quite much the same. But I find it funny that the monsters in it carry torches.
